(tied) 7. EK.

It’s pretty much impossible after the F&F era to find an unmolested EK Si, the car may not have been bad, but the image ruined it.

(tied) 7. EM.

Rice, anyone? Pretty much the same as the EK, not horrible as a car, but as RCR said about the Mustang, the image is pretty much inescapable.

6. FG2.

Not a bad car by any means, too new for ricers to do anything to it, and too old to be expensive. Although it was far from being the best looker (in coupe form), it was overall pretty decent.

5. FB6

Fuck it, I like it. There are better options, but it’s good bang for your buck.

4. EG.

Classic 90s Japanese looks, sure, a bit boring, and most were riced out. But it was truly the last of the classic Civic Si era.

3. EF.

Boxy, light, cheap, what’s not to like?

2. AG/whatever

Something about the first Civic Si is just, right.

1. EP3.

If you don’t like the EP3 Civic Si, I’m going to assume you’re some sort of fun hating alien.

Oh, man. I just realized that you had the list in descending (7-1) order. I was getting ready to question your sanity. Not a big fan of the EP3 except for the shifter, but a damn solid list nonetheless.

Nahhhh yo here’s the real ranking:

7) EP3: We got a shit EP3 here in North America, nothing like the Type-R’s in Europe. I know Si

6) FB6/FB4: This Civic is the newest one (2012-15). Not competitive in it’s segment, but not a bad car. The Civic Si hasn’t got all that much better since the FG2/FA5, I expected more from this car.

5) EA/AA/whatever: Also known as the Wonder Civic. I have a huge soft spot for these. The first Civic Si. Everything about it is just so right—a true classic.

4) EF: Double wishbone suspension. Lightweight. Late 80’s early 90’s Honda brilliance. A very nice Si that blazed the trail for the EG.

3) FA5/FG2: K20 motors that were responsive to mods and were high revving, solid engines. Handled decently, but by now the Si has picked up some weight. Transmissions were not always up to task in these though.

2) EG: Lightweight. The most popular Civic generation. Technically the best Si. Brought on a tad more weight than the EF, but handled much better due to a better chassis. .

1) EM1 (There was never an EK Civic Si, even though they are the same chassis): Heavier than the EG, but came with slightly better styling (best looking Civic of all time, imo) and more refinement. Regardless of who owned them and what they did, clean ones are beautiful cars. The B16A2’s in these were amazing—not torque-y but sang at high rpm. We never got the Type-R but this Si was the closest to it among all of them. A nice Electron Blue Pearl Si as example:

#1: EP3 (the later revision with the 5 lug)

#2: EM1 (in black, because everyone has EBP)

#3: EG6

#4: FG (Mugen Edition)

#5: all others

Si was US only, other places got SiR, which was essentially the same except for interior trims. Yeah, the EP3 CTR had the rev happy engine

Most Honda guys describe Civic’s by their Chassis designations found in the VIN. The sixth gen cars were designated at either EJ, EK or EM. they are usually called EK because that is what the designation for the hatches was. The chassis designation for the USDm Si is EM1, but my USDM EX sedan was a EJ8 and a DX/LX would have been an EJ6. However a lot of people would call all of them EKs. It’s kinda of a broadstroke term. In a similar vein the fourth gen is called an EF but I’m pretty sure that was only a JDM designation. My fourth gen was a ED6, and the fourth gen Si is an ED9.
